DUTY

I had a very interesting conversation with my boss yesterday, conversation that made me think seriously about the role every person should play and at the same time the role every person should avoid.I approached my boss with a proposal of mutual transfer. For those who don't know what it is,in my company if two individuals want to exchange their place of posting they can do so if their bosses permit. So,me and a girl from other unit planned for a mutual transfer and I approached my boss for the same.My boss denied me the permission saying that he doesn't needs a girl. When I asked him why, he said a lots of things but I would just like to mention one of his lines-"it takes 2 years for them to learn and when its time to deliver they just deliver babies".I was shocked.I feel that it is important at this stage to mention that I am not writing article to insult any female nor do I believe that girls are less than boys in any field.I am just writing this article to highlight the concept of conflicting interests or duties(you will realize that as you read further. ).Our ancestors decided roles for every person and divided our society into priests, warriors, businessmen and leaders.Every person had to pick only and only one role.Till this point I see no flaw in caste system because because if say a businessman becomes a leader and start thinking about social welfare,he is bound to loose his profit .Similarly if a leader decides to be a businessman he will loose the idea of social good once profit becomes his priority. This is one of the strongest reason I see for so much corruption and scam these days because businessmen are entering politics and politicians are becoming businessmen. The flaw in caste system was that your next generation was forced to pick up same profession as yours. The same concept holds true for a man and a woman. The role of bread earner was given to man and that of a home maker to woman. That was going fine until man started neglecting the importance of home maker and tried to prove his superiority. With reforms coming in picture and women trying to prove their worth ,home maker changed to bread earner. Here comes again conflicting interests.A bread earner needs to spend majority of time outside home earning bread whereas a home maker needs to spend maximum time at house to make it a home.I don't deny the fact that women are equally and at times better bread winners than men but I have not seen many men who are good home makers. But due to conflicting interests I think women fail yo do justice to either of the roles at times.I don't know what the solution is but I saw the picture with this angle and I wrote what I saw.
Signing off for now............
